Frequently Asked Questions on Lash Lifting

  • The solution has changed colour. Is it still safe to use?

If you have noticed that your solution appears to be lighter or has changed in some way, don't worry! The base color of Steps 1 and 2 is white, and the coloring is only provided to help distinguish between the two steps. The color itself does not affect the solution or how it works.

  • What is the shelf-life of lash lifting solutions once opened?

It's important to check the shelf life of your products. Unopened sachets and bottles typically have a shelf life of 12 months but always check the packaging of your preferred brand as this can differ. For example, InLei states 2 months and Thuya 12 months.

  • What is the ideal room temperature?

It is recommended to store products at room temperature, away from direct sunlight.  During winter, some beauty rooms may get cold, especially if they are unheated. During summer, the temperature may get too warm, so it's important to keep an eye on it.  Before the first use, stir the solution thoroughly. If you are using sachets, squish them several times to ensure that the contents are well mixed and the consistency is right.

When placing the lash shields, it is crucial to position them as close to the lash line as possible. If you place them too far away, it could affect the lift. Conversely, if you place them too close, it may cause the lashes to pull downwards instead of lifting them.

  •  How to apply and remove solution ensuring optimal results?

Please note this is some general guidance and you should always follow the manufacturer's instructions.

  1. To apply the lash solution, gently work it into the natural lashes. Avoid rubbing the lashes as this may cause them to detach from the shield.
  2. It's recommended to apply the solution to only about 1/3 to 1/2 of the natural lash, as applying too much or too little may affect the lift outcome.
  3. If the solution is not applied far enough, the lift may not be strong enough to curve the lash upwards, while applying too far up can cause the lash to become frizzy.
  4. When removing the solution, use a dry cotton bud to remove any excess.
  5. Be careful not to dissolve the adhesive when using a damp pad to remove the solution, as it is water-soluble. It's important to remove step 1 completely before applying step 2, as any solution from step 1 remaining on the lashes can affect the lift outcome.
  • What are the processing times?

Please note this is some general guidance and you should always follow the manufacturer's instructions.

  1. Please remember the following instructions:
  2. Use a clock or stopwatch to time the development process.
  3. Ensure that both steps develop for the same amount of time.
  4. Make a note of the time when you apply the solution to the first eye, and then again when you apply it to the second eye. Even a small time difference can make a huge difference in results.
  5. You cannot determine the development time by simply looking at the lashes.
  6. Dark and strong lashes may lift easier, while light and thin lashes may require longer development time, or vice versa.
  7. Keep a record card to note down the timings.
  8. Sometimes, even small things like using a new bottle or having the bottle open for a few weeks can affect the development time.
